FROM GYANNE SMITH Anne
Isabel (Swope-Germano) McKeeby celebrated her 93rd birthday
April 18, 2001. Her daughter and son-in law, Gyanne and Charlie
Smith drove up to Georgia from Jacksonville, Florida for the occasion.
They and her son, Don Germano and wife, Sara Mac took her out to a nice
restaurant where she was wined and dined and presented with a Happy
Birthday cake. The following day, Anne Isabel went by car with Gyanne and Charlie to their home in Jacksonville for a ten day visit. There she was reunited with her 15 year old dog, Opie, who came to live with Gyanne and Charlie when Anne went to live in assisted living.
The
weather in Jacksonville was beautiful and she enjoyed being outside with
everything in bloom. She went for walks and one time went around a whole
block! Gyanne and Charlie took her to St Augustine where she had lunch overlooking the river. She enjoyed seeing the beach, the ocean with all the Seagulls and pelicans, her favorite. Another day they went to Fernandina Beach, north of Jacksonville and ate overlooking the marina there and browsed some of the quaint shops.
Anne
Isabel is doing well for her 93 years. She suffered a mini stroke
earlier this year but has recovered well. She still goes for her
half-mile walk almost every day and enjoys reading and playing Skip-Bo
with her friends. She reads the Bible every day, still attends church
and bible studies and even volunteers to sit at the information desk in
her building. Gyanne
and Don and all her Georgia and Florida families are quite proud of her.
She has two children, four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She
